Southampton Rangers have bolstered their squad for the 2026 cricket season by securing the services of former national captain Delray Rawlins.

The star all-rounder, a regular in the St George’s Cup Match team, has made the decision to leave Bailey’s Bay and join Rangers, who earned promotion to the top tier of domestic cricket last season.

“We are excited to announce that Delray Rawlins has agreed to transfer to Rangers for the upcoming season,” Southampton Rangers Sports Club president Darren “Butch” Burchall told The Royal Gazette.

“He will be joined by Alex Dore, who has returned home from Canada. Dore will not be loaned out to Somerset again this year and has made it clear that he will be playing with us.

“We have Identified two other top former Rangers players who we will welcome publicly in the near future.”

As well as the acquisitions of Rawlins and Dore, Burchall revealed that former Rangers player and coach Clevie Wade has agreed to rejoin the coaching staff as well as unveiling a new partnership with a youth programme run by former club spinner Ryan Belboda.

“Last month I met with our sports chairman Dalin Richardson, cricket co-ordinator Dion Stovell and our high-performance director Herbie Bascome,” Burchall said.

“Following that meeting, coach Clevie Wade has agreed to come on board as assistant coach. We have also put together plans to have our cricketers join Ryan Belboda’s youth programme as coaches and mentors.

“Herbie Bascome has plans to move our programme to the next level and raise the bar for club cricket on the island.”

Rangers recorded a clean sweep of First Division honours on their way to securing promotion to the top tier last season under the guidance of coach Bascome and captain Richardson.

The former powerhouse suffered only one defeat during their successful campaign after losing to Devonshire Recreation Club in the final round of the First Division 50 Overs competition.

Rangers were denied the opportunity to compete for a fifth title after withdrawing from the Western Counties competition after a dispute with tournament organisers over the host venue for this year’s series.
