Motorist injured in two-vehicle collision in Sandys

A two-car collision in Sandys left one motorist injured and traffic on Middle Road reduced to a single lane yesterday.

A police spokeswoman said that shortly after 6pm, emergency services responded to a reported collision at the junction of Spring Benny Road.

She said: “Preliminary information suggests that one vehicle was travelling westbound on Middle Road while the second vehicle was travelling eastbound and attempting to turn into Spring Benny Road when the collision occurred.

“The driver of the eastbound vehicle was reported to be the only person injured. Details of the driver’s injuries are unknown, but they are not suspected to be serious at this time.”

The spokeswoman said that as of 7pm traffic was being diverted away from the area using a single-lane system while work to clear the roadway is carried out.
