Police investigating New Year’s Eve attempted home invasion

Police have launched an investigation into an attempted home invasion that took place mere minutes into 2026.

A police spokesman said that the incident unfolded at a Hamilton Parish residence at about 12.30am on January 1.

“It appears one of the individuals involved may have been injured by an occupant at that residence during the attempted invasion,” he said.

“None of the residents of the targeted property appear to have been injured during the incident.”

While the spokesman said video clips of the incident have been circulated on social media, he urged the public to delete them rather than pass them on, as they jeopardise legal avenues for pursuing the matter.

He said: “The investigation and any subsequent prosecution could be severely hampered by the continued sharing of these clips.”

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to immediately contact Detective Sergeant Seymour Foote at 717-2282 or sfoote@bps.bm.
