Gallagher Re has appointed Scott Cobon as head of strategic solutions in Bermuda, strengthening the firm’s advisory and capital-focused capabilities on the island.

Mr Cobon joined the global reinsurance broking and advisory firm earlier this month, and reports to company’s head of Bermuda, Ben Radford.

In his new role, he will focus on driving growth, expanding Gallagher Re’s Bermuda platform and enhancing the firm’s global offerings through capital structuring and investor engagement. He will work closely with Gallagher Securities, including its capital advisory and insurance-linked securities teams.

Mr Cobon joins from Artex, another Gallagher company, where he most recently served as managing director, insurance management services. He brings extensive experience in risk management, deal structuring and capital markets, as well as a strong track record in client relationship management, strategic leadership and cross-regional collaboration.

His appointment forms part of a broader investment in Gallagher Re’s Bermuda platform, following the recent appointment of Andrew Phelan as chairman, global credit, surety (excluding the United States) and political risk and the hiring of Rachel Barnes as a senior property retro broker.

Mr Radford said Mr Cobon’s experience would be a major asset as the firm continued to build out its Bermuda operations.

“As well as facilitating interactions between Bermuda insurance and reinsurance firms, investors and other industry participants, Scott’s background will allow us to foster greater collaboration across the wider Gallagher global network, including Artex,” he said.

Mr Radford added that the firm remained committed to investing in areas that complemented its on-island product offering and supported further growth in Bermuda.
