The City of Hamilton today presented $14,000 in donations to two helping agencies.

Charles Gosling, the Mayor of Hamilton, and Dwayne Caines, the City of Hamilton’s chief executive, were on hand to present funds to representatives of The Salvation Army and Compassionate Care Partners, formerly Friends of Hospice.

A spokeswoman for the City said that Compassionate Care Partners received a donation of $4,000, raised through an annual Christmas raffle.

The Salvation Army received a $10,000 donation as part of the City’s annual charitable giving.

Mr Gosling said the support was part of the City’s mission to uplift the community.

He added: “These organisations provide vital services every day, from feeding and sheltering those in need with dignity, to strengthening hospice and palliative care services for individuals and families across Bermuda.”

Jennifer Mahoney, the executive director of Compassionate Care Partners, said that the contribution enables the organisation to support individuals and families and “reinforce the importance of compassionate, community-based care in Bermuda”.

Captain Alfred Esdaille of The Salvation Army said the funds will enable the charity to meet its needs and support its ability to serve the community.
