Motorists were warned to be on the lookout for runners on Sunday morning as the Butterfield & Vallis Races take place in Pembroke.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Public Works and Environment said the events are scheduled to start at 7.45am and are expected to conclude by 11am.

He added: “These races will take place in the Pembroke area and involve multiple routes, including Woodlands Road, Canal Road, St John’s Road, Pitts Bay Road, Serpentine Road, Euclid Avenue, Berkeley Road and North Shore Road.

“Motorists should expect road closures and temporary traffic controls in place throughout the morning to facilitate the safe passage of race participants.

“Drivers are urged to plan ahead, use alternative routes and follow all signage and instructions given by police officers and race marshals during the event.”

A notice stated that Woodlands Road will be closed to traffic for the duration of the event with motorists urged to take care when travelling on other affected roadways.
