Northlands again win primary school netball championship
Northlands defeated West Pembroke 4-3 at Bernard Park on Wednesday to secure a third consecutive Primary School Netball title.
Jher’z Burgess spearheaded Northlands to victory with three goals in the final, while Mila Bryan added the fourth for the champions. Ariah Tucker scored twice while A’Nylah Tucker was also on target for West Pembroke.
Northlands, under the mentorship of Tanika White and Kim Raymond, were 6-3 winners over Somersfield Academy in the semi-finals as Burgess led the scoring with five goals while Bryan added a single goal. Gabriella Saunders scored twice for Somersfield along with Aleisha Siddiqi.
West Pembroke needed extra time to defeat Harrington Sound 10-8 to seal a spot in the final. Ariah Tucker was sharp with her shooting to score eight times while A’Nylah Tucker contributed two points.
Aalyasia Watson and Mia White scored four goals each for Harrington Sound.
Quarter-final action started with Harrington Sound defeating Purvis Primary 9-4. West Pembroke then edged out BHS 6-4, followed by Somersfield Academy defeating Saltus Grammar School 7-5.
The champions wrapped up the quarter-finals with a 7-0 triumph over Warwick Academy.
Northlands topped pool B after defeating Harrington Sound 11-3, followed by a 9-0 victory over Mount Saint Agnes Academy.
West Pembroke finished at the summit of pool A. The overall runners-up defeated Saltus 4-1, saw off Paget 11-0 and Dalton E Tucker 5-0.
