Winter storm forces flight cancellations

A winter storm moving across the US East Coast has forced multiple cancellations of flights to the island.

American Airlines, JetBlue, Delta Air Lines, WestJet, Air Canada and BermudAir operations have been impacted.

In a travel advisory, BermudAir reported the cancellation of flight 2T 241 from Newark as well as its flights to and from Boston today.

Yesterday, the winter conditions forced the cancellation of the airline’s Westchester, New York round-trip flight as well as its flight to Newark.

Flights by its subsidiary, AnguillAir, to the Caribbean island of Anguilla were also impacted by the weather conditions yesterday.

The advisory said that affected customers were provided with updates.

WestJet, JetBlue and Delta airlines flights to the island today from New York were cancelled, according to Flightradar24.

Yesterday, American Airlines and United Airlines services from New York were cancelled owing to weather conditions in the US.

Air Canada also cancelled its flights to the island over the weekend as a result of related weather conditions in Toronto.

The winter storm is spreading destructive ice and snow across 34 US states, according to Weather.com, as the accumulation of more than a foot of snow was reported in 14 states.

More than 800,000 people in the US were said to be without power.

The US National Weather Service predicted heavy snow over the US North East and freezing rains over parts of the Mid-Atlantic states today as the storm moves across North America.
