Hamilton promotes Thiam to group head of compliance

Moussa Thiam, group head of compliance, Hamilton Insurance Group

Hamilton Insurance Group has promoted Moussa Thiam to group head of compliance, effective January 1, as the Bermudian-headquartered insurer strengthens governance and regulatory oversight following its public listing.

Hamilton Insurance Group, which underwrites speciality re/insurance globally through its subsidiaries, said the appointment recognises Mr Thiam’s contributions since joining the group in December 2024.

Based in London, Mr Thiam will lead and co-ordinate compliance activity across Hamilton’s underwriting platforms, maintaining consistent standards and a unified approach across jurisdictions. He reports to Gemma Carreiro, group general counsel, and will work with senior leadership teams across the business.

Ms Carreiro said the creation of a group-wide role came as the company operates “in an increasingly complex and interconnected regulatory landscape”.

She said: “Maintaining strong standards of compliance is a fundamental component of how we do business. This role reflects the scale of our business today and reinforces our commitment to the highest standards of compliance and governance as we support sustainable growth.”

She added that Mr Thiam had made a “significant impact” since joining Hamilton and was a trusted and collaborative leader.

Mr Thiam previously served as head of compliance for Hamilton Global Specialty and Hamilton Re. Before joining the group, he spent seven years at Beazley and held earlier compliance and regulatory roles at MS Amlin, the Financial Ombudsman Service and Lloyds Banking Group.
