Energy training, scholarships programme launched
Bermudian students with their sights set on the energy sector can now apply for a bursary programme that offers two scholarships worth $25,000 each.
The educational awards, announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs, are paired with a paid eight to 12-week summer internship at the Department of Energy.
It is aimed at Bermudians seeking careers in energy policy, sustainability and emerging technologies.
The department, responsible for policy, legislation and regulation, also oversees broadcasting, telecommunications and space and satellite operations.
Alexa Lightbourne, the Minister of Home Affairs, said the programme was “opening doors for students across engineering, climate science, policy and business to turn classroom learning into public-service impact”.
Applicants must be Bermudians whose studies align with skill areas including:
• Engineering and technical disciplines
• Environmental and climate sciences
• Physical and applied sciences
• Energy economics and public policy
• Law, regulation and governance
• Business, finance and project management
Applicants can find the requirements and submission portal under the Energy Bursary Programme at BermudaScholarships.com. The application deadline is March 6.
