Pink Route ferry grounded again for repairs
The Department of Marine and Ports Services has suspended the Pink Route ferry service effective this afternoon, citing the need for mechanical repairs on the vessel.
Marine and Ports Services apologised for the interruption and said it would advise when service will resume.
The route has faced repeated challenges in recent years, with the latest suspension the second this year for mechanical woes.
In July 2025, the Government restricted operations on the Pink Route to weekdays only with seven scheduled loops along the route per day.
However, even after the reduction in service, mechanical issues with the ferries caused it to be halted sporadically.
The reduction of service sparked an online petition with more than 1,000 people signing up to urge the Government to bolster the route — and a planning application to build a marina on Hinson Island to assist residents.
