Women’s squad announced for match against Costa Rica
The senior women’s national squad has been announced for the game against Costa Rica in the Concacaf Women’s Championship next week.
The Lady Gombey Warriors will take on Costa Rica, who are ranked third in the Concacaf region behind United States and Canada, on Tuesday, March 3 at Flora Duffy Stadium at 7pm. Tickets are available to purchase at Gpass.bm.
Bermuda head into the game second in the group on goal difference after beating Cayman Islands 4-0 and losing 4-1 to Guatemala in their opening two matches at the end of last year, but they have played a game more than group rivals Guatemala, Costa Rica, Guyana and Cayman.
A lot will be riding on Bermuda’s exciting attacking talent with Nia Christopher, Kenni Thompson and midfielder Eva Frazzoni, who scored two goals in the last round of matches, expected to come to the fore again.
Head coach Naquita Robinson is urging supporters to come out and back the team as they take on one of the region’s giants.
“Playing at home means everything to us,” Robinson said.
“Once we hear the supporters and feel their energy, it will remind us of who we represent: our families, the community, and everyone who believes in us.
“We will carry that pride onto the field and we will fight for every ball knowing that they are right there with us.”
