Relm Insurance has launched two scholarship programmes in Bermuda and the United States aimed at building early career talent in insurance, risk and emerging industries.

The speciality insurer said the initiatives were designed to create structured education-to-employment pathways, combining financial support with paid work experience at Relm.

Students selected for the programmes will complete a 12-week placement and have opportunities to work during summer and Christmas breaks.

In Bermuda, the company’s partnership with Bermuda Foundation for Insurance Studies enters its fourth consecutive year. Relm said the continued collaboration reflected its long-term commitment to the island’s insurance market and the development of Bermudian professionals.

The scholarship, open to undergraduate and postgraduate students, offers $10,000 for one academic year alongside a paid summer work placement at Relm.

At the same time, Relm has launched a new scholarship partnership with the University of Miami, marking an expansion of its academic engagement. The company is also supporting the Business of Blockchain and Tokenisation Conference hosted by the Miami Herbert Business School, an annual event that brings together researchers, industry practitioners and policymakers to examine commercial and regulatory developments in blockchain and tokenisation.

Paul Pavlou, dean of the Miami Herbert Business School, said the partnership aligned with the school’s focus on real-world learning before graduation.

Victoria Cunningham, executive director of BFIS, added that the programme ensured Bermudian students were “industry-ready, with an understanding of risk, regulation and innovation in practice”.

Relm said the scholarships formed part of a broader effort to strengthen technical and regulatory capability in markets where operational discipline and emerging risks were increasingly important.
