A Canadian warship docked in Hamilton today to allow its crew some rest-and-relaxation time.

The HMCS Ville de Québec was piloted in, berthing at about 11am, Harbour Radio said.

With a home port in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the vessel is part of the Canadian Armed Forces fleet assigned to Maritime Forces Atlantic.

In an update on her operations last November, Canada’s national defence department said: “HMCS Ville de Québec is one of 12 Halifax-class frigates, each of which deploys with a crew of approximately 240 personnel from across the Royal Canadian Navy, Royal Canadian Air Force, and Canadian Army, including a helicopter air detachment to fly and maintain the ship’s embarked CH-148 Cyclone maritime helicopter.”

It said that the ship was equipped with an underwater warfare suite upgrade, “enhancing its ability to detect, track and classify underwater and surface contacts through integration with the ship’s combat management system”.
