Belco hosted an appreciation breakfast to recognise those who work year-round to keep Bermuda’s lights on.

The breakfast today honoured the company’s lineworkers, jointers and fitters ahead of International Lineworker Appreciation Day tomorrow.

Wayne Caines, Belco president, said: “Our lineworkers, jointers and fitters are Belco's frontline workers who maintain and repair our infrastructure across the island.

“They are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and often work under difficult conditions to ensure any outages are restored quickly and safely.

“They miss weekends with their families, they leave their homes in the middle of the night and they work through storms so that Bermuda can have an uninterrupted supply of power.”

Mr Caines thanked the workers, on behalf of Belco and the Bermuda community, for their professionalism and dedication.
