Bermuda Smash Invitational squads finalised
The final squads for Bermuda’s big franchise cricket tournament have been finalised.
The 56 players set to entertain and enthral at the Bermuda Smash Invitational were chosen at the draft, which took place at Bailey’s Bay Cricket Club on Friday night.
With the competition expanding to allow the four teams to draft three overseas players, there is even more international glamour to excite crowds at the National Sports Centre between May 30 and June 6.
Champions Hamilton Parish Hurricanes, who have won the first two tournaments, retained captain Terryn Fray, wicketkeeper Sinclair Smith, Alex Dore and Derrick Brangman in their squad. To add to those local stars, they drafted overseas players Quentin Sampson, Raj Nannan and Marcus Bean.
Top-order batter Sampson, in particular, catches the eye as a member of the West Indies squad at the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Sandys Spartans retained captain Kamau Leverock, Delray Rawlins, Alje Richardson and Isaiah O’Brien, who starred for St David’s in the Champion of Champions match against St George’s on Saturday. Their overseas players are Chad Bowes, Akeem Jordan and Zachary McCaskie.
Pembroke Panthers opted to retain Dominic Sabir (captain), Charles Trott, Zeko Burgess and Jermal Proctor. Veteran Namibian Gerhard Erasmus, Kelvin Pittman and Virandeep Singh form their overseas contingent, while they have plenty of local experience in Allan Douglas Jr, Brian Hall and Justin Pitcher among their ranks.
Onias Bascome (captain), Malachi Jones, Macai Simmons and Zeri Tomlinson were retained by Smith’s Sixers, who chose Italian Anthony Mosca, Brett Hampton and Shaquan Belle as their overseas players.
