Driver arrested after crash leaves car overturned
A man was arrested this morning after being involved in a collision that left a car on its side.
The Bermuda Police Service said that officers responded to a two-car crash at the roundabout connecting Palmetto Road and Dock Hill in Devonshire at about 9am.
Initial reports suggested that one of the cars was on the roundabout trying to exit onto Dock Hill when the other car, travelling east along Palmetto Road, entered the roundabout and collided with the rear of the first vehicle.
“The impact caused the first vehicle to overturn onto its side,” the BPS said.
“The second vehicle continued along Palmetto Road but was later stopped by a member of the public near the incinerator.”
Police said that man who had been driving that vehicle was arrested for failing to remain at the scene of a collision where someone was injured.
The driver of the overturned vehicle was helped from the car by a member of the public and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
His injuries were not believed to be serious.
Any witnesses to the incident were asked to call Constable Carlos Shepherd on 211 or to e-mail cshepherd@bps.bm.
