Calidris expands Bermuda platform with three hires
Calidris Investment Partners has appointed three new team members as the firm expands its insurance-focused investment platform.
The Bermudian-based investment manager announced that James Larner has joined as director of investor partnerships, Chelsea Smith as finance and operations manager and Abigail Exon as quantitative strategies manager.
Calidris, which is backed by RedBird Capital Partners, said the appointments strengthen its investor relations, operational and analytical capabilities as it grows its presence in the property and casualty reinsurance investment space.
Mr Larner will lead the firm’s global capital partnerships strategy, including investor outreach and relationship management. He joins Calidris after roles at Partners Group and Pillar Capital, bringing nearly 20 years of experience in capital formation and institutional investor relations.
Daniel Miller, co-founder and co-chief executive of Calidris, said: “This appointment marks a significant milestone in the firm's institutional development and underscores our commitment to building a capital formation process that delivers responsive, high-quality service to our partners.”
Ms Smith joins the firm from Deloitte, where she spent a decade working with multinational clients across several industries. Calidris said she will support the growth of the platform’s financial and operational functions.
Ms Exon previously worked at Ki and Ascot in both Bermuda and London, focusing on underwriting portfolio management tools. At Calidris, she will join the quantitative strategies team and help develop the company’s analytical framework.
Philippe Trahan, co-founder and co-CEO, said the appointments came at “an important stage in our growth”.
“The depth of talent we are attracting reflects the strength of our platform,” he said.
He added that the new hires would support the firm’s goal of providing investors with “differentiated access to lower volatility P&C insurance risks through a premier institutional platform”.
