Renewed appeal for information on 2022 murder

Police make a fresh appeal for information about the murder of Laje Franklin, whose body was found shortly after 6.30am on April 6, 2022 (Photograph supplied)

Police are again calling for information about a fatal shooting in the East End four years ago.

Investigations continue into the death of 18-year-old Laje Franklin, whose body was discovered near the roundabout leading to Clearwater Beach in St George’s shortly after 6.30am on April 6, 2022.

He was understood to have been shot multiple times near where he was found.

A police spokesman said: “One person was initially arrested in connection with the 18-year-old’s murder and later released on police bail.”

He added that no other arrests had been made in connection with the incident, but said an investigation remains active.

Detectives are thankful for the public’s assistance so far and are “confident that there are individuals who have knowledge of the circumstances” behind the killing.

Police continue to appeal for anyone who heard suspicious noises, or saw suspicious activity in the area of Tommy Fox Road, or near the Gulfstream residences at Southside, between 11pm the night before and the early hours of April 6, to make contact.
