Crown drops case against man accused of 2022 drug plot

Prosecutors have halted the case against a man accused of drugs and weapons offences.

Iman Gibbons, 50, had been accused alongside two other men of conspiring to import drugs between an unknown date and August 4, 2022.

He was also charged with possessing brass knuckles and supplying cocaine between August 4 and August 10, 2022.

However, the Supreme Court heard yesterday that prosecutors had filed a nolle prosequi, a legal notice indicating that they did not wish to continue the prosecution of Mr Gibbons.

Adley Duncan, for the Crown, said that while prosecutors could potentially seek to relaunch the prosecution, there were “no intentions whatsoever” to do so.

Puisne Judge Alan Richards told Mr Gibbons that as a result of the Crown’s application, he would discharge him from the case.
