Youth Mental Health Walk cancelled for weather

Wet weather has forced the cancellation of a planned Youth Mental Health Walk (Photograph by Blaire Simmons)

A pair of events organised as part of Youth Mental Health Week have been cancelled.

A government spokeswoman said that the Youth Mental Health Walk and a free screening of Inside Out 2, both scheduled to take place tomorrow, will not take place.

The spokeswoman said: “With tomorrow’s forecast calling for inclement weather, the Youth Mental Health Walk has been cancelled.

“Unfortunately, the Community Movie Day for Youth at the BUEI must also be cancelled due to other extenuating circumstances.

“We remain grateful for our community’s support and will continue creating opportunities for our young people to come together, feel supported and be celebrated.”

Schools that were to be involved in the Youth Mental Health Walk will instead be invited to take part in a school-based “Stand Together” photograph on their own campuses with green umbrellas.

Community partners were also encouraged to show their support by taking pictures of themselves wearing green and sharing them on social media with the tag @youthmentalhealthplanbermuda.
