Detour routes for Swing Bridge come into effect
Installation of the pre-construction detour route for the Swing Bridge in St George’s takes place from today until September 7, the Ministry of Public Works and Environment has advised.
A ministry spokesman said the works are required to facilitate the staging area for the construction of the new bridge.
“The detour route will be constructed in phases, with multiple running road closures affecting areas near the existing roundabout, Kindley Field Park, St David’s Road and Carters Bay Road,” the spokesman said.
“Traffic controls will be managed by ministry representatives with barricades, cones and stop-and-go personnel in place.
“Motorists are advised to travel carefully through the phased detour routes and follow all posted signage and directions.”
Phase one: Closing off road at gate one access from roundabout to park, to construct the temporary bus turnaround area. Park access via Wallast Point Road: May 25 to June 11

Phase three: Construct mini roundabout at gate one with sidewalk, close off St David’s Road access, relocate bus turnaround into Kindley Field Park: June 7 to July 23
Phase four: Construct mini roundabout at gate two, Carters Bay Road: July to September 7
