It has rained more rain the past two days than it usually does throughout the entire month of June, the Bermuda Weather Service reported.

The BWS recorded 4.17 inches of rain yesterday, making it the wettest June 3, and possibly the 20th rainiest day ever recorded in Bermuda, and 1.13 inches of rain by 1.30pm today, with that total expected to grow.

This brings the total rainfall in Bermuda this month to 6.74 inches, surpassing the June average of 4.41 inches, but well below the record 14.46 inches set in 1962.

Bermuda has recorded 30.4 inches of rain in 2026 to date, almost nine inches above the average of 22.05 inches.

This rain caused flooding throughout the island and water to enter an underground Belco vault in Hamilton.

The BWS stated that a low-pressure system also brought “variable, sometimes strong and gusty winds overnight” and recorded maximum gusts of 38mph.

A small craft warning, updated at 11.30am, is valid through this evening and BWS said conditions should improve once the low pressure moves away between today and tomorrow.

Phil Rogers, the BWS director, said: “As far as the weather goes some sunshine should break through tomorrow with more sun over the weekend.

“Long-term forecasts are notoriously unreliable but at this moment the next two weeks looks drier than the last two weeks.”

When asked if it was better for Bermuda to have more or less rainfall, Mr Rogers said: “It depends on your point of view, some tourists and Bermudians may prefer the sunshine, while those on the Island may want the rain to fill their tanks.”
