Bermudian creator teams up with Lonely Planet to promote island
A local film-maker joined forces with an international travel company to help put Bermuda in the spotlight
Nhuri Bashir, of Burnt House Productions, said he was one of a range of international content creators tasked by Lonely Planet with highlighting the place they call home.
Mr Bashir said: “Lonely Planet reached out to me by social media asking if I would be interested in being a part of this series with a lot of other creators, with locals giving out what they love to do in their own country.
“They gave me a lot of free rein of the type of things I could do. I gave them the different things that I like to do.
“Then the question was then, how do we get things done?”
The video, posted by Lonely Planet on social media on Sunday, details Mr Bashir showing off his take on a perfect day visiting the island.
Over the course of the video, Mr Bashir ventures from Gibbs Hill Lighthouse to St George’s with stops at the Masterworks Museum, the murals of Hamilton and a fish sandwich at Mama Mia before boarding a charter boat.
While he said the order of stops would be difficult in practice, with “a lot of hard rights”, he hoped his selection of destinations would entice visitors looking to enjoy different aspects of the island from sightseeing to the local art scene.
Mr Bashir added: “Its basically saying, if you are here for a day, here’s some of the local options that you might want to check out.”
