Clean sweeps on latest BMRA race day
Cheng-Hsien Ning, Kannen Morris-Dickinson and Carter Burgess each completed clean sweeps of their respective classes as the Bermuda Motorcycle Racing Association staged another successful race day at Bermuda Motorsports Park on Sunday.
Another exciting day of racing produced close battles, great sportsmanship and riders continuing to develop their skills and confidence, with competitors taking to the track in the MIR GP 110cc, Scooter/Street and 400cc classes.
The MIR GP 110cc featured an outstanding performance from Carter Burgess, the 2025 BMRA Mini Moto 110cc Junior Division Champion, who has now moved up to the Expert Class and completed a clean sweep, winning all three races.
The competition behind him was intense, led by Jesston Thomas, the 2025 BMRA MIR 110cc Expert Division Champion and 2025 Junior Division runner-up Dezi DeGrilla-Tucker.
Forming the 2026 Junior Division, returning rider Pharoah Crockwell and new riders Aydin Hollis and Len Macedo were involved in several close contests as the young riders continued to demonstrate their development and growing racecraft. With the Junior and Expert divisions combined into one field for these race days, the developing junior riders benefited from sharing the track with more experienced competitors.
The Scooter/Street category produced exciting racing throughout the day, with Ning taking victory in all three races. Carlston Burgess recorded a pair of second-place finishes in the opening two races, while Carter Burgess secured third place in Race 1, placed fourth in Race 2, then improved to second in Race 3.
Jesston Thomas remained competitive throughout, finishing fourth in Race 1 before earning back-to-back third-place finishes in Races 2 and 3. Dezi DeGrilla-Tucker completed all three races and continued to gain valuable experience in the class.
Kannen Morris-Dickinson continued his strong form in the 400cc class, taking victory in all three races, while Romano Rameriz secured second place in each outing. Morris-Dickinson's move up to the 400cc class follows his graduation from the MIR 110cc Expert class — a clear example of a rider progressing through the BMRA's youth programme and stepping up to the senior ranks of local racing.
BMRA officials praised the efforts of all riders, coaches, volunteers and families who contributed to another successful day of racing. The association remains committed to developing local motorcycle racing talent and providing opportunities for riders to progress through the sport.
The championship continues with the next round at Bermuda Motorsports Park on Sunday, June 21, when the championship points system will officially commence. The day will also feature a special Father’s Day race, with fathers taking to the track to be showcased. All are invited to attend and join the festivities.
The BMRA also encourages young people interested in motorcycle racing to get involved through its youth programme. Aspiring riders and their families are welcome to come down to the track every Saturday to get a feel for the mini motos and experience the programme first-hand.
