Flush out this problem once and for all

The Warwick Long Bay bathroom in March this year (File photograph by Akil Simmons)

Dear Sir,

I'm not a user of public bathrooms but I've seen the state of some (Ferry Reach is an example) and I've seen the comments on various social-media sites about others.

If we can’t provide facilities that are clean and maintained properly, then we should either get rid of them or find something that can be kept clean and (I have no idea how but ...) protected from vandalism.

Most of our tourists come from places where bathroom facilities like ours would drive them to go somewhere else next time. It's one of those situations where we can do ten things right and then a visitor goes to one of this unbelievably disgusting bathrooms.

I grew up in the Fifties and Sixties when we had tourists crawling all over the place. I don't recall going to any beach in Bermuda where we provided bathroom facilities. If we can’t do a decent job with bathrooms … let's just get rid of them.
