Agreement likely after OT summit in Bermuda
Deputy Governors and heads of public service from British Overseas Territories are expected to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding after participating in a conference on the island last week.
A government spokeswoman said representatives from Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, Montserrat, the Turks & Caicos Islands and the British Virgin Islands took part in the Overseas Territories Deputy Governors and Heads of Public Service annual summit on June 11 and 12.
Cherie Lynn Whitter, Head of the Bermuda Public Service, said participants engaged in “meaningful, solution-focus discussions on the shared challenges facing our public services” and expect an MOU “to increase engagement in talent-development activities including secondments and attachments”.
Ms Whitter added: “While each of our jurisdictions is distinct, the commonalities are clear — by working together, sharing experiences and building on collective expertise, we are better equipped to modernise our public services, develop our people and deliver for our island homes.”
