Cup Match may be rooted in Emancipation and celebrated through a cricket match, but it's also Bermuda's biggest fashion moment.

From the game to the beach, boats and the parties, the holiday weekend has become an opportunity to showcase personal style. The challenge, however, is dressing for long days in the summer heat without sacrificing fashion.

Stylist Shauntia Seymour says this year's Cup Match wardrobe is all about making a statement while keeping things effortless.

“This year's Cup Match style is all about bold, eye-catching prints, standout statement pieces and breezy fits. It's about serving effortless style while staying chic, comfortable and cool enough to beat the summer heat.”

At Cassine, owner Mia Page Chambray says shoppers are embracing that same confidence and individuality.

The cricket

For a day at the game, Ms Seymour recommends lightweight pieces that will keep you comfortable from the first ball until the final overs.

“A lightweight matching set or a breezy dress with bold prints paired with comfortable sneakers or stylish sandals is perfect. Add statement accessories, a cute bag and sunglasses to finish the look. You want to look amazing, but also be comfortable enough to spend the entire day at the field.”

Ms Chambray agrees that versatility is key.

“I'd recommend our Bali Elf dresses, all made of organic cotton and linen. Wear one with a cute sneaker or sandal to the game, then elevate it with fun accessories and a dressier shoe for the evening, or even just an RMS red lip.”

Beach and boat days

Beach and boat style should feel relaxed without looking like an afterthought.

Ms Seymour says: “Start with a bold swimsuit and layer it with a sheer cover-up, crochet set or oversized linen shirt. Add statement sunglasses, layered jewellery and a cute pair of sandals. Beach and boat days are the perfect excuse to be a little sexier while still keeping it effortless and cool.”

Ms Chambray says every woman should have a swimsuit that works beyond the beach, along with a great hat, statement sunglasses and plenty of sunscreen.

Family gatherings

Whether you're heading to a backyard barbecue or visiting family camps, Ms Seymour recommends keeping your look polished but easy.

“Think a breezy sundress or a linen set with simple accessories, cute sandals and fresh hair and make-up. It's comfortable enough for the heat, but polished enough to show that even an everyday outfit can stand out with the right finishing touches.”

Ms Chambray says the key to dressing well for Cup Match is choosing pieces that are as practical as they are stylish.

According to Ms Seymour, accessories are what separate a good outfit from a memorable one.

The right accessories, paired with your hair and make-up, can completely transform a look. They can take the simplest outfit and turn it into something beautiful, stylish and memorable. And above all, confidence is the best accessory you can wear.”

While trends come and go, Ms Chambray says one thing she'll happily leave behind is polyester.

“Poly and Ester,” she jokes. “Nothing is more toxic or more uncomfortable.”
