National Academy Under-17 face Future Pro in Triangle Cup final
National Academy Under-17 face Future Pro will square off in the Bermuda Triangle Cup final at Flora Duffy Stadium this morning (11.30am).
Kaiyuri Albouy and Stephen Astwood scored the goals that earned the national academy a 2-1 victory, while Hurven-Jay Burgess was on target for Town.
Future Pro had Bermudian goalkeeper Curtis Jackson Jr to thank for saving two penalties in their 3-1 shoot-out victory over Sao Miguel in the second semi-final.
The match between the two foreign sides in the competition had ended 1-1 at the conclusion of the two 35-minute halves. Andre Viana opened the scoring for Sao Miguel in the fourth minute before Chazz Manning equalised for Future Pro 14 minutes later.
Sao Miguel, from Azores, finished with ten players on the park after they had captain Vasco Teles sent off nine minutes into the second half for pulling down Manning.
The final promises to be a highly competitive match with nothing much to separate the two teams. When Future Pro and national academy met in the group stage on Monday, the match ended in a 2-2 draw.
Meanwhile, Town and Sao Miguel meet in the third-place play-off at 9.30am, in what will be a curtain-raiser for the final.
