Ban for rider who went more than twice the speed limit

A Pembroke man has been disqualified from driving all vehicles for seven months after he admitted riding his bike at more than twice the legal speed limit.

Joseph Smith, 38, also acknowledged receiving a parking ticket on Friday in Magistrates’ Court when he pleaded guilty to speeding at 75km/h.

Smith was fined $450 for the speeding offence, which he committed in Southampton on May 10, and $75 for the parking ticket.

He had seven points added to his licence, which already had seven points.

Magistrate Craig Attridge ordered Smith to pay all fines by August 28 and banned him from the roads based on points accrued.
