Robin Hood have dropped out of the Premier Division just months after being promoted to the top tier.

The club has confirmed that it will not participate in the league during the upcoming 2026-27 season as it undertakes a “comprehensive” period of restructuring and organisational development.

“The decision follows extensive discussions by the Club's Executive Committee and reflects a commitment to building a stronger, more sustainable future for Robin Hood Football Club, both on and off the field,” read a club statement.

“Although stepping away from Premier Division competition is a difficult decision, the Executive Committee believes this strategic pause will provide the opportunity to strengthen the club's football operations, organisational structure, and player pathway, ensuring long-term success.

“The club continues to benefit from an outstanding pipeline of young talent through its youth academy and Under-23 programme. However, with a significant number of senior players currently pursuing educational opportunities overseas, maintaining the depth required for a full Premier Division campaign has become increasingly challenging.

During the coming year the club will focus on strengthening its organisational structure, supporting the continued development of its youth players and preparing a competitive Under-23 squad for the 2027 summer season and rejoin Bermuda Football Association’s senior league for the 2027-28 season.

“The club's objective is to return to Bermuda Football Association senior league competition for the 2027—2028 season with a stronger foundation, renewed stability, and a squad capable of competing successfully,” the statement read.

“The Executive Committee extends its sincere appreciation to the club's players, coaches, volunteers, supporters, sponsors, and the Bermuda Football Association for their continued loyalty and support during this transition.

“This is not an ending for Robin Hood Football Club — it is the beginning of our next chapter. We are committed to rebuilding with purpose, investing in our players and club infrastructure, and returning to Bermuda Football Association senior competition for the 2027—2028 season stronger, more stable, and ready to compete.”

Hood struggled with numbers last season with some of their players studying abroad in school.

However, they still managed to secure promotion despite those challenges along with First Division champions Somerset Trojans.
