A Pembroke man has been charged in Magistrates’ Court with stalking and sexually assaulting a woman.

The 25-year-old, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, denied the offences, as well as allegations that he caused $900 in damage to bike tyres and a brake line, when he appeared in court on Wednesday and chose to keep the case in the lower court.

The man allegedly committed the sexual assault on July 10 and is accused of stalking the woman between that date and July 13, and of damaging the items on July 12.

Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson adjourned the case to August 24 and released the defendant on $15,000 bail with a surety until that time.

The man was also ordered to not contact the alleged victim and report to Hamilton Police Station three days a week.
