Young Men’s Social Club have been reinstated to the Premier Division.

The Angle Street club were relegated along with Pembroke rivals Boulevard last season but have accepted an invitation from Bermuda Football Association to remain in the top flight for the upcoming season after promoted Robin Hood withdrew.

The BFA made the announcement in a press release today.

“The Bermuda Football Association officially advises that on July 15, Robin Hood Football Club informed us that it would be unable to fulfil its obligations as a Premier Division club,: the BFA said.

“This is a consequence of a declining population as well as players and parents exploring educational and football opportunities abroad,” the BFA press release read.

“The Executive Council and clubs will continue addressing and formulating the necessary strategic initiatives to address these and other realities that are, and will, impact football in the future.

“The BFA is happy that Young Men’s Social Club has accepted the offer to remain in the Premier Division and we are looking forward to an exciting season.”

Promoted Hood withdrew from the league for the upcoming 2026-27 season as they undertake a “comprehensive” period of restructuring and organisational development.

The club continues to benefit from an outstanding pipeline of young talent through its youth academy and under-23 programme. However, with a significant number of senior players pursuing educational opportunities overseas, they said maintaining the depth required for a full Premier Division campaign had become increasingly challenging.

They plan to continue the development of its youth players, prepare a competitive under-23 squad for the 2027 summer season and rejoin Bermuda Football Association’s senior league for the 2027-28 season.

“This is not an ending for Robin Hood Football Club — it is the beginning of our next chapter. We are committed to rebuilding with purpose, investing in our players and club infrastructure, and returning to Bermuda Football Association senior competition for the 2027-28 season stronger, more stable and ready to compete,” said the club in a statement to The Royal Gazette last week.
