Bermuda golfers compete in Caribbean Championship

Team Bermuda at the Caribbean Championships

Bermuda will field a strong team at the prestigious Caribbean Amateur Golf Championship this week.

The region’s elite amateur event, hosted by the Caribbean Golf Association in conjunction with the Bahamas Golf Federation at The Royal Blue Golf Course, Nassau, starts tomorrow and continues until Friday

The championship consists of 54 holes with a combined team and Individual event, and the championship marks the first time the Bermuda Golf Association has competed at this level and serves as a significant milestone in the Association’s continued efforts to give Bermudian golfers the opportunity to compete against their Caribbean counterparts on the regional stage.

Bermuda will be represented by a team of six men and four women ― Eric West, Will Haddrell, Oliver Betschart, Dylan Muso, Mikus Ming Arman Newton, Tracy Burgess, Sienna Mosquera, Darina Betschart, and Morgan Lightbourne.

Bermuda Golf Association president Craig Brown feels the tournament marks an important moment for the sport.

“Our entry in the CAGC is a major moment for golf in Bermuda ,as it represents our full member status in the CGA,” Brown said.

“It is our first time at the Caribbean Amateur Golf Championship, the region’s premier amateur event, and it is a huge step forward for our Association in our commitment to regional competition and for every golfer on the island.

“We have assembled a strong team of men and women who have worked hard to earn this opportunity, and they will represent Bermuda with pride and determination.

“On behalf of the BGA, I want to thank the CGA Tournament Team and extend a public thank you to the Bahamas Golf Federation for their warm hospitality.”
