The Mid Ocean Club has appointed Scottish PGA Professional Jody Addison as the new Director of Golf.

According to Golf Business News, Addison brings more than 20 years' experience of developing five-star member services at top private clubs and five-star resort communities around the world.

He grew up playing golf at Montrose and began his professional career at Royal Liverpool and Sunningdale golf clubs

“Mid Ocean Club has a legendary reputation worldwide,” Addison told the publication.

“My vision is to build upon its incredible history while elevating our day-to-day services, ensuring that every time a member or guest steps onto the property, they experience the absolute pinnacle of what world-class private golf has to offer.”

Austen Gravestock, general manager and chief executive of the club is delighted with the appointment.

“Mid Ocean Club is recognised among the finest private golf clubs in the world and the investment projects we are embarking upon are designed to preserve that legacy for generations to come,” Gravestock said.

“We are delighted to welcome Jody to our team at this important time. His personal approach to service and high standards across all areas of our golf operation will be appreciated by members, while his experience developing a world-class performance centre will also be extremely valuable as we upgrade our amenities.”

The club recently announced that renowned architect Gil Hanse will restore the Charles Blair Macdonald-designed course to its original 1920s look.

Work on the course, which is ranked 44th in Golf Digest’s list of the 100 greatest golf courses outside the United States, will begin in autumn next year.

This follows an infrastructure rehabilitation project, including necessary renovations to the clubhouse as well as amenity modernisation, with the course expected to reopen late in 2028.
