St George’s suffer mass exodus during summer transfer window
St George’s Colts suffered the heaviest loss of players among the Premier Division clubs during Bermuda Football Association’s summer transfer window.
The Dudley Eve holders have lost the services of 20 players, including siblings Kashe and Blaiz Hall, coach Drewonde Bascome, Jamori Jones-Tyrell, Jonas Schroder, Liam Evans, Ramsay Soutter, Oyinde Bascome, Benjamin Osset, Malachi Trott, Isai Gibbons, Troy Hall Jr and Maquel Nisbett-Tankard to Premier Division rivals Devonshire Cougars, Dandy Town, North Village, PHC and Somerset Trojans.
St George’s were also unable to lure any of the 105 Premier Division players who opted for transfers during the summer to Wellington Oval for the upcoming 2026-27 season, but did add David Signor from Robin Hood, which won promotion to the Premier Division, but withdrew their senior team from competition.
PHC suffered the second heaviest loss with 12 players followed by Village and Trojans (10), Paget Lions (9), Dandy Town (8), Devonshire Colts (7), X-Roads Warriors (4), Social Club (3) and Cougars (1).
Cougars were the biggest winners having picked up 16 players, among them former captain Darius Cox, along with Jensen Rogers from Trojans who will share coaching duties with Mark Mills.
PHC Zebras (14) picked up the second most players but have lost the services of captain Darren Usher to X-Roads and midfielder Keishon Bean to Cougars.
X-Roads picked up eight players, Premier Division and Friendship Trophy holders Dandy Town seven, promoted Trojans six, and Devonshire Colts five, Young Men’s Social Club four, Paget Lions three and FA Cup holders Village two.
Social Club were relegated from the Premier Division last season but will remain in the top flight for the upcoming season after Robin Hood withdrew.
Only 20 players sought transfers from the First Division over the summer.
Hamilton Parish, who have rejoined the league after withdrawing last season, profited the most with 26 players joining their ranks from both divisions, followed by Shield holders Somerset Eagles (14), Wolves (7), St David’s Warriors (6), Southampton Rangers (4) and Vasco da Gama and relegated Boulevard, who recruited one player each.
Blazers and Wolves lost the services of five players, Parish and Eagles three, St David’s two and Rangers and Vasco one.
Idle Hood, who intend to rejoin Bermuda Football Association’s senior league for the 2027-28 season, had 21 players from their roster join new clubs for the upcoming season.
