A need for residents aged 50 and above to avail of Age Concern has been heightened by the island’s economic climate, the charity stated, as it launched a membership drive.

The group said its campaign will highlight financial and practical benefits, including discounts offered by participating businesses.

At present, Age Concern members were said to save an average of about $450 a year.

The group noted the priority given to cost-of-living relief in the 2026-27 Budget and the launch of the Affordable Bermuda Agenda.

Mercedes Pringle-DeSilva, its executive director, said: “At a time when people across Bermuda are looking for practical ways to make every dollar stretch further, we want our community to know about and take advantage of the resources already available to them.”

She said Age Concern membership came with access to educational opportunities and information on issues such as health and wellness, financial literacy, legal matters and other topics relevant to older adults.

The group provides advocacy, guidance and referral services.

The organisation said it was encouraging existing members to regularly access benefits, while inviting eligible residents who have not yet joined to learn more about the resources and support available.
