The Construction Association of Bermuda has awarded $25,000 in scholarships to Bermudians to help them continue their education in construction related fields.

The funds were raised at CAOB’S annual golf tournament, with title sponsor H & H Plumbing & Mechanical Ltd, contributing sponsor D&J Construction Company Ltd and numerous other sponsors and donations.

Rachael Betschart is studying mechanical engineering at the University of Exeter, Neriah Bean is studying electrical engineering at Oakwood University, Seth Hardtman is studying civil engineering at NC State University, Christoper Pitcher is studying mechanical engineering at the University of Portsmouth and Samantha Rance is studying mechanical engineering at the University of Brighton.

Bryan Adams, vice-president of the CAOB and co-chair of the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce Construction Division commented: “We are encouraged to see more Bermudians studying engineering and related construction disciplines.

“The pace of technology advancements and the changing environment will require our industry to evolve to keep pace. These young individuals will be equipped with the necessary skills to tackle these challenges.”

An association statement said the organisation was dedicated to making the construction industry safer, more efficient, more competitive and better able to contribute to the development of Bermuda.
