Appleby Bermuda welcomes new lawyers

Law firm Appleby has welcomed Michael Thom (senior associate) and Charles Hambling (associate) to its property and corporate practices, respectively.

Mr Thom specialises in high-value commercial and residential real estate transactions. He has extensive experience advising clients on acquisitions, disposals, funding, development, regeneration projects and portfolio management for landlords and tenants.

Prior to joining Appleby, he spent seven years at a leading independent practice that is highly regarded for its real estate work.

Mr Thom is an admitted solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales, currently non practising.

Appleby said: “Mr Hambling specialises in major sponsor-side work across the funds, fund financing, and corporate spectrum with experience acting sponsor and lender-side on complex, innovative, and multi-jurisdictional financing transactions across all asset classes for both closed and open-end fund vehicles.”

He also has experience assisting with implementing more bespoke fund liquidity solutions.

Before joining Appleby, Mr Hambling at overseas firms such as Clifford Chance and Kirkland and Ellis, where his practice predominantly focused on fund finance.

He was admitted as a solicitor in the Senior Courts of England and Wales in 2022.

Brad Adderley, Bermuda managing partner said the two men would bring valuable international experience and fresh perspectives.

Having spent his career focused on fund finance, he is looking forward to bringing that experience to an offshore context, whilst also broadening his practice across the wider corporate landscape, a statement said.
