Arnold Manders made his presence felt at the recent 2026 International Masters Cricket Over-60s World Cup in Ontario, Canada.

The former Western Stars, St George’s Cup Match and Bermuda all-rounder shone with both bat and ball while representing the IMC Emerging XI in the tournament featuring Test playing nations England, Australia, New Zealand, India, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, West Indies and Zimbabwe.

Manders compiled 139 runs in seven matches with a high score of 58 against South Africa and also produced unbeaten knocks of 40 and 23 against Wales and Zimbabwe.

The IMC Emerging XI vice-captain also claimed four wickets with his off spin with a best haul of two for seven from just two overs against hosts Canada.

He was also chosen as the man of the match for outstanding performances against South Africa and Wales.

“It was a great experience and my second Over-60s World Cup,” Manders told The Royal Gazette.

“I believe it could have been better if I was used more to bowl and used as a genuine all-rounder. I was only used in two games; three overs against Canada [two for 7] at the death and Wales [two for 15] at the death.

“I finished with four wickets bowling only six overs in the whole tournament, and the two leading wickettakers had seven wickets bowling their complete allotment of nine overs every game.

“The wickets were very difficult to bat on for the most part, so you really had to get stuck in and pick the bad balls while picking up singles at the same time.

“It is also didn’t help that we were in the Group of Death with Australia, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.”

Manders made his tournament debut in Australia in 2022 and was one of three former local players, including his brother Andre “Doc” Manders and Wendell White, that represented the IMC Emerging XI in Canada.

Former Stars, Somerset and Bermuda batter Andre Manders scored 24 runs in five matches and former Somerset and Bermuda all-rounder White 16 from just one after tearing his Achilles in the IMC Emerging XI’s tournament opener against Sri Lanka after stepping on a sprinkler in the field.

The trio’s team did not enjoy the best of times after losing all of their group A matches, with their sole win arriving against Zimbabwe in a play-off to determine last place among the 14 participating countries.

New Zealand, the only unbeaten team at the event, and England were declared as joint winners after their final showdown was washed out. The 45-overs round robin tournament was held in Mississauga from August 9 to 23.
