A motorist who injured a pedestrian in Hamilton Parish was fined $2,000 in Magistrates’ Court.

Jahkai Brangman, 27, admitted riding a bike without due care and attention when he appeared in court yesterday.

The court heard that Brangman overtook vehicles stopped at a pedestrian crossing near Grotto Bay Resort on April 23 and struck a woman who was crossing.

The woman’s arm was injured and she was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

Brangman, from St George’s, apologised for his actions and told magistrate Craig Attridge that he overtook one car to avoid hitting another.

Brangman also admitted disobeying a traffic sign in St George’s on March 27.

Mr Attridge fined Brangman $1,000 for driving without due care, $1,000 for disobeying the sign and added ten demerit points to his licence.
