A rider of an e-bike was taken to the hospital after it was in collision with a rental car in Paget this morning.

A police spokesman said the rental car was heading west on South Road, near the junction with Harvey Road, when the bike rider, a 28-year-old man travelling in the opposite direction, apparently lost control while trying to overtake a vehicle along a bend.

The rider collided with the rental car, was thrown onto the roadway and injured a leg in the incident, to which police were dispatched at about 9.43am.

The rider was assisted at the scene by medical personnel and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for further assessment.

The spokesman added: “The rental car was left with extensive front end damage, however, the driver, a male visitor to the island, was not reported to have been injured.”
