Ascot has reorganised its American business, creating new regional leadership roles and consolidating seven business segments into five product lines.

The specialty re/insurer, which also operates in Bermuda and London, said the changes should create a more connected, client-focused organisation as it enters its next phase of growth.

Brian Chiolan, previously executive vice-president and head of management and professional liability, has been appointed United States regional executive officer. He will report to Matt Kramer, chief executive of Ascot US, and align regional distribution priorities with underwriting strategy.

Oliver Ade has been named EVP and regional executive for the Central region, while Jeff Canfield will become EVP and regional executive for the West. Ascot said it is recruiting regional executives for the Northeast and Southeast.

Dane Lopes, Ascot’s former head of US partnership engagement and strategy, has been appointed head of North America distribution. In the expanded role, he will work with distribution partners across the region and work to deepen broker relationships.

Mr Lopes will report to Steve Goldman, Ascot’s group head of distribution, marketing and communications.

Ascot will also combine its US operations into five product verticals: marine and specialty; casualty; surety; financial lines; and alternative risk solutions.

Ted Mavraganis, formerly head of environmental, has been named head of marine and specialty. Mark Benz will lead alternative risk solutions, while Tara North will remain head of surety. Recruitment is still ongoing for leaders of the casualty and financial lines businesses.

The changes take effect on October 1.
