Two teenagers were taken to hospital yesterday afternoon after a crash on Front Street that involved a motorcycle and a car.

Police, fire and ambulance teams responded to the collision near King Street shortly after 3.50pm.

Traffic diversions were in effect for approximately 2½ hours while the scene was processed.

A Bermuda Police Service spokesman said: “It appears that a car driver was exiting a Front Street building’s parking garage, intending to travel east along Front Street, when the collision occurred with a motorcyclist, travelling in the westbound lane of Front Street.

“Apparently, the westbound motorcycle then struck an unoccupied, parked motorcycle across the street.

“The rider of the westbound motorcycle, understood to be a 19-year-old Warwick man, and his pillion passenger, understood to be an 18-year-old Devonshire man, were both hurt.

“They were transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for medical care.”

At last check, the 18-year-old passenger remained admitted to hospital with a leg injury, while the older teen had been treated and discharged.

The car driver, understood to be a 51-year-old Paget woman, was not hurt.

The car and motorcycle directly involved in the collision, as well as the parked motorcycle, were damaged.

Traffic diversions meant many motorists in Hamilton experienced delays.
