Opportunities to grow air service to the island were discussed when the transport minister and a delegation met with officials of United Airlines this week in the United States.

Owen Darrell led a team including officials from the Bermuda Tourism Authority, the Bermuda Airport Authority and Skyport, operators of the island’s airport, to meet with the carrier’s network planning team at its headquarters in Chicago.

Mr Darrell said: “This meeting was an opportunity to continue discussions on Bermuda’s air connectivity and explore opportunities that can support the growth of our tourism industry.”

A government spokeswoman said the meeting followed discussions held at the aviation summit, Routes Americas, held in Brazil in March 2026.

Mr Darrell was joined by Lawrence Scott, chairman of the BAA; Ken Hassard, commercial director at Skyport; Jan Hutton, the BTA’s chief executive; Erin Wright, the BTA chief operations officer; and William Griffith, chairman of the board.
