Bermuda will hope to get their belated North American Cup campaign under way in Cayman Islands today.

The island’s cricketers were scheduled to start the tournament on Sunday at Jimmy Powell Oval against the host nation but heavy rain forced the cancellation of the match without a ball being bowled.

Poor weather looks likely to be a factor for much of the early part of the tournament with thunderstorms forecast until Wednesday and the match on Monday between Cayman and Bahamas also failed to start because of rain.

The North American Cup features just three teams, with the United States and Canada missing the second edition of the North American Cup because both of their national cricket boards faced suspensions from the International Cricket Council.

While both national boards are frozen from administering cricket or receiving direct ICC funding, the ICC has allowed the respective national players to continue competing in major stand-alone international events — such as the T20 World Cup and the upcoming 2028 Los Angeles Olympics — under an independent normalisation committee.

However, regional showcase events like the North American Cup have been restructured to focus strictly on compliant member nations.
