Ian Peterson to lead Arcadian’s new platform
Managing general agency Arcadian Risk Capital has made Ian Peterson its executive vice-president, head of marine and speciality insurance, based in London, effective November 30.
Mr Peterson will lead the development of the Bermudian-based firm’s marine and speciality platform.
Company chief executive John Boylan said this represented a significant expansion of Arcadian’s product offering and complemented the continued growth of its existing longtail lines of business.
“The strategy is designed to build a broad, underwriting-led marine and speciality franchise supported by experienced talent and long-term capacity relationships,” Mr Boylan said.
Mr Peterson was previously active underwriter of Lloyd’s Syndicate 1183 and CEO of Talbot Specialty Insurance Services in the United States.
Mr Boylan said: “Ian brings exceptional underwriting experience, deep knowledge of the London market and a proven ability to build businesses around strong underwriting teams.”
He said Arcadian saw a significant opportunity to develop a diversified offering across a number of complementary classes while maintaining its focus on disciplined, underwriting-led growth.
“Arcadian has built a strong reputation around experienced underwriting talent, disciplined risk selection and a long-term approach to building speciality businesses,” Mr Peterson said. “I look forward to working with the team to establish a differentiated marine and speciality platform and to build out the broader franchise over time.”
In January 2026, Arcadian received a growth investment from Lee Equity Partners, a middle-market investment firm specialising in the financial and healthcare services sectors.
In addition to Bermuda, Arcadian has offices in the United States, Ireland and the United Kingdom.
Founded and led by Mr Boylan, it is now in its sixth year of operation, and is approaching $2 billion of aggregate gross written premium generated on behalf of its carrier partners.
