Daniel Augustus bounced back from a disastrous opening round at the Clutch Pro Tour Championship in Hexham, England on Thursday.

The Ocean View professional shot a respectable 75 in the second round, which included four birdies, to steady the ship after carding a disappointing 84 the previous day at the 7,069 yard Hunting — Slaley Hall golf course.

Augustus was one over at the turn but lost a bit of momentum after dropping two additional shots on the back nine.

The 39-year-old sits alone in 67th among the 70-strong field at 15 over and will be hoping to finish the 54-hole tournament on a positive note heading into tomorrow’s final round.

Augustus went into the event with his confidence soaring after securing his spot in next year’s Butterfield Bermuda Championship and going wire-to-wire to win the Johnnie Walker Classic for the second time at his home golf course.

Englishman Ben Hutchinson leads the field by one shot at seven under with 18 holes to play.
