The new games section on The Royal Gazette website

Readers of TheRoyal Gazette have a new online games section to entertain them along with the daily diet of news, reviews, features and sport.

It is free to take part for a limited time, after which the fun will be complimentary to online subscribers.

The games include a crossword, Sudoku, a word search and spelling games Word Flower and WordroW.

Michael Grier, the BP Media and Gazette commercial director, said: “We are very excited about this.

“The idea is to build up a bigger profile in the community and it is mobile phone-friendly, too.

“We are trying to create value for money on the website.”

He added: “Journalism is driving the product, but we are also creating other types of content which will engage with users.”

Mr Grier said: “Building niche audience profiles are important to TheRoyal Gazette and in Bermuda you learn quickly what audiences are looking for, what they like and what they don't like.

“The RG is changing — our platforms have evolved and we have big changes coming to the website in the next 18 months with new experiences.

“Our journalism will always lead the way, but users need to know that there are plenty of things to engage with BP Media and the RG brand.”

Editor Bill Zuill added: “It is very exciting to add this feature to the website. We know word games are hugely popular across all age groups and we hope this will further enrich the experience of Royal Gazette online readers.

“This is not the only new feature we are working on, so stay tuned for more improvements.”
