A team of young Bermudians are preparing to challenge students from international robotics programmes in Atlanta this weekend.

Members of the Bermuda National Robotics Team, the Bermy Bots, are set to compete at the first meet of the 2026-27 First Tech Challenge season on Saturday with support from Connectech Coding.

A Connectech spokeswoman said: “The trip opens with two days of building and mentorship alongside championship level teams and mentors that include Georgia Tech alumni, aerospace engineers and former NASA employees, with full access to professional fabrication equipment and practice fields.

“On October 24, the team competes in its first league meet.

“Results from the season’s meets build each team’s ranking ahead of the league tournament and the state championship in February, the road that leads to world championships.”

The spokeswoman said that students hosted a free robot-building and coding workshop this month for children to give back to the community.

Anyone interested in following the team can visit the Connectech Instagram page, @Connectechbda.
